About the Kawazu Hot Springs Village

There are seven characteristic hot spring baths in the Kawazu area. (Imaihama Onsen, Kawazuhama Seaside Onsen, Yatsu onsen, Mine Onsen, Yugano Onsen, Odaru Onsen, Nanadaru Onsen.) Even in Japan it is rare to have 7 hot spring baths in one area, and the fact that each hot spring bath in the area has its own characteristic makes this a popular hot spring spot even in Japan. We have hot spring baths with sea views and also hot spring baths with mountain views.

Please do visit our area in your travels in Japan.

The Beautiful and Shallow Beach District of Imaihama Hot Springs

Experience sea views while bathing at Imaihama Hot Spring Baths. Naturally, during the summer swimming season, there are many choices of accommodation where you can also relax and dip in a hot spring bath. The fact that the inn is so close to the beach, you can leave your bags and your car, simply by stepping out just in your bathing suit to enjoy delicious seafood meals among others. The Imaihama beach is proud to have an AA water quality rating, and it becomes lively with many swimmers in the Summer season.

Kawazuhama Hot Spring, which is closest to the main venue of the Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival.

The transport options in the area within walking distance of the Izukyu Kawazu Station are good, moreover the Kawazu swimming beach is within 5 minutes walk of the station. For the "Kawazu-zakura Cherry Blossom Festival" from February through March, the station is moderately close to the main event area, and along the river bank of Kawazu River, you can see the colors of the Kawazu Cherry trees lined up on the way.

An Ancient Hot Spring Bath Discovered Approximately 1,500 years ago.

It is said that an ancient hot spring bath first opened approximately 1,500 years ago by a Buddhist Monk. The cultivation of the Iris, which became popular due to the fact that it thrives on the heat from the hot springs, has brought about its specification as the official flower of the city. With accommodations being so close to the Kawazu river, easy access to the Kawazuhama Beach Hot Spring Bath, and Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival is assured.

The Mine Hot Spring Fountain Sprays To 30M Above Ground Level

The Mine Hot Spring was discovered at about 779AD, and the "Great Eastern Pacific Fountain" was born in 1926, when accompanied by a large rumbling sound, a great jet of water shot up from the fountain to approximately 60M above ground. The Mine Hot Spring water quality, the local river fishing, and its accommodation places make it a popular choice. Many people enjoy taking a stroll on the river bank, or you can take a break at the footbath of Hosen.

Yugano Spa, which were the story setting for Yasunari Kawabata's "Izu no Odoriko"'s Yukari no Yado.

Old Onsen Inns which stand in rows alongside the Kawazu River retain the lyricism of Kawabata Yasunari's "Izu no Odoriko". The ban on fishing of the "Mokuzu Crab (Crab caught by river)" which is one of the delicacies representative of Kawazu in the Autumn through Winter season, is lifted in October, so at your Inn you may enjoy "Mokuzu Crab" soup or boiled crab and other such dishes which are offered at that time. (Please inquire at the office for further information).

A Hot Spring Area Where You Can Enjoy Seven Waterfalls and Hiking.

As its name suggests, it is a scenic location where you can enjoy 7 waterfalls in all four seasons. The area takes its strength from its mountain river fishing, and hiking through the Amagi Pass. In summer it is cool, while in autumn and winter you can enjoy the autumn leaves and the hot spring baths, or warm yourself up with a wild boar crock pot meal. It is for these reasons that visitors come to the area throughout the whole of the year.

A Day Trip to a Hot-Spring Bath

Japanese people love hot spring baths, so in Japan there are many facilities to which you can take a "Day Trip Hot Spring Bath Experience." "Day Trip Hot Spring Bath Facilities" are not the same as Inns where you check in for the night, rather, without checking in for the night you simply go to the hot spring bath for the purpose of enjoying a bath, relaxing over a delicious meal, or for getting a massage. Not all places of accommodation are Hot Spring Bath Inns, but in such locations that are, it is normal for non-check in customers to take a bath in daytime hours while paying only for the hot spring bath fee.
